Updates & Notices

May 2026 Update - West Construction Start

The Miller Group has been awarded the contract to construct the West Section of the Bradford Bypass (also known as Highway 425). Work has begun at Sideroad 10 to build the divided highway from west of Artesian Industrial Parkway to Highway 400.

April 2026 Update - Non-Significant Addendum to the Final Environmental Impact Assessment Report

In accordance with Section 29 of the Ontario Regulation 697/21: Bradford Bypass Project, should any project changes be required during the Detail Design phase that are inconsistent with the Final Environmental Impact Assessment Report, an addendum shall be prepared. As such, a Non-Significant Addendum Report has been prepared to document project changes for the Bradford Bypass West Project:

Winter 2026 Update - Implementation of the West Section

In Fall 2024 design work included development of an initial vegetation removals implementation contract. This work was carried out in late Fall 2024 with environmental protection measures, including erosion and sediment control measures used to protect the environment.

The next phase of implementation included the construction of a 10th Sideroad (County Road 54) temporary detour on the west side of 10th Sideroad. Environmental protection measures, temporary lighting, and installation of protection measures for the existing Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury watermain is ongoing. The purpose of constructing this detour is to avoid impacts to local traffic using 10th Sideroad during construction of the new 10th Sideroad bridge to be built as part of the Bradford Bypass West Project.

Detail design of the Bradford Bypass West Project is ongoing and will include a comprehensive Landscape Design for the West section of the Project. The Landscape Design will include mitigation and restoration measures such as noise walls (where applicable and feasible), and areas where reforestation, edge management, compensation plantings and snow drift measures are anticipated to be implemented.

Construction of the remaining components of the Project are anticipated to begin in 2026. A Project Update is available here with further information on design progress and future phases of work, including when landscape restoration and mitigation measures will be implemented.
