Detail Design Study

MTO has retained AECOM Canada Ltd. (AECOM) to carry out an Environmental and Detail Design Study for the west section of the Bradford Bypass. The west section extends from Highway 400 to County Road 4, and is located within the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, in the County of Simcoe.

The West Section

The west section of the BBP Corridor will include a four-lane rural divided freeway with grass median, two interchanges (10th Sideroad and County Road 4), and a freeway-to-freeway interchange (Highway 400/Bradford Bypass).

Environmental field studies are currently ongoing, and updates regarding the Project will be posted as they become available.

Fall 2024 Update

The next phase of implementation is expected to take place in the Fall of 2024 and will include tree clearing of select areas throughout the Bradford Bypass West. Environmental protection measures will be included to protect the environment during this implementation work.

A comprehensive Landscape Design for the west section of the Project will be developed during Detail Design and will be built on the conceptual landscape design prepared during the prior Preliminary Design phase. The Landscape Design will include mitigation and restoration measures such as noise walls, and areas where reforestation, edge management, compensation plantings and snow drift measures will be implemented.

Additional information and updates on the design progress and future phases of work, including when landscape restoration and mitigation measures will be implemented will be provided as they are available.
